Following sold-out runs at the Turbine Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe and the Garrick Theatre, Rob Magde returns to the West End. At the age of 12 Rob tried to stage a full-blown Disney parade. The scene, their house, the audience, their Grandma. Rob donned a wig and played a full cast of characters, Mary Poppins, Belle, Ariel and Micky Mouse. Their Dad pulled double duty as Stage Manager/Sound Technician and Goofy. Alas, Dad missed every cue and the floats were all pushed in the wrong directions. Mum thought Aladdin was Ursula, who mistakes a street rat for a sea witch? The costumes went all wrong and so did the props. Ariel’s bubble gun wouldn’t even work correctly. Grandma seemed to have a pretty good time though. My Son’s a Queer, (But what can you do?) is the joyous autobiographical story of social-media sensation Rob Madge as they set out to recreate that infamous parade – and this time, nobody, no, nobody is gonna rain on it. RuPaul’s Drag Race UK superstar Victoria Scone and award-winning writer Jamie Windust as their two guests for the grand finale of their Queer Hero Thursdays on 30 March. This series of events sees star of the show Rob Madge welcome icons from the LGBTQ+ community for an audience Q&A about their experiences growing up and finding positivity in the world around them. The post-show Q&A takes place following Thursday matinee shows and is included in the ticket price of the performance at 2:30pm. Age Recommendation: 16+
