About Ophelia Rewound

A journey that starts right at the end. A woman who is not used to having guests. A broken clock dressed in blood. And suddenly there’s only two minutes left; two minutes to make new friends, two minutes to retrace our steps, two minutes to play a game, two minutes to mend our hearts and say goodbye. 'Ophelia Rewound' is an interactive, autobiographical, solo performance which weaves intricate projection mapping and Antigoni’s lived experience through depression, to examine and challenge the stereotypes that sit around women and mental health. The character of Ophelia is a shape-shifting archetype, moving with social attitudes of women throughout history. The piece reflects this and offers a contemporary and unique perspective on an age old story; reforming Ophelia and going beyond the myth to the person underneath. Merging her own story with that of Ophelia's, writer, director & performer Antigoni Spanou, invites the audience into an intimate world where the lines between art and life become blurred. The audience’s journey begins at the end of Ophelia’s; with her attempted suicide. But through a series of thought-provoking interactions they are given the opportunity to become part of the story and share a moment of collective transformation. Age Recommendation: 18+ Tigger warnings: The performance contains references to depression, sexual assault and suicide
