Akademi’s dance-theatre production toured India and the UK in 2018 and is available online until August 24. It is well worth a look. It tells a story of love, loss and sacrifice against a backdrop of WWI. Featuring new silent film footage, the piece is choreographed by Gary Clarke and features BBC Young Dancer 2015 finalist Vidya Patel. It is inspired by a 1915 short story by Chandradhar Sharma Guleri about a soldier in the trenches who keeps his secret promise to an unrequited love in the midst of conflict.
