James and Nikhil like spending time on the internet. But they are too young to remember a time when the World Wide Web was a hobby, a luxury, a utopian ideal. And now, they’re spending so much time online they can’t remember very much at all. Transfer Protocol is an attempt to connect with a fading past. Part durational performance, part memorial, it traces its way through the earliest communities online till present day- through the first forums, blogs, comment sections, flame wars, giving physical form to the ways we connect digitally.
