About Paper Soldiers

A tragi-drama that aims to expose the catastrophic repercussions of oppressive forms of masculinity that transgress familial, social and political boundaries. Jonathan Cartwright and wife, Martha, along with son, Ron-Paul are owners and residents of macho, 'WrightAles' speak-easy bar. With rising taxes and ever- increasing bureaucracy restricting small enterprises in the States, their business is suffering a debilitating debt that whether out of virile pride or denial, Johnny refuses to acknowledge. With the elections on the horizon, Johnny is convinced that Trump's new reforms will transform the small town of Prairie View into an economy of booming industry aside punters with fresh American dollars for ale at his joint. With promise of change and prosperity on the horizon, we witness Johnny and company regress into realms of fanaticism and misogyny as a means of saving face amidst the currently turbulent political and economic climate. A battle thus ensues to fervently uphold the Republican values that built their constituency upon the likes of the second amendment. An American dream that transcends to brutal reality at the culmination of the election results, as Jonathan Cartwright is to discover what it truly is, 'to make a soldier.' “Blessed are the meek. For they shall inherit the Earth..”
