Susie Dent is an English lexicographer and etymologist. Since 1992, she has appeared in “Dictionary Corner” on Countdown, and she also appears on its comedy cousin, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. She is the longest serving member of Countdown’s current on-screen team, having made more than 4,500 appearances. As of 2016, Dent is also honorary vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.

Gyles Brandreth is a presenter, journalist and author who makes regular appearances on Countdown and The One Show. He is an ex-presenter of Good Morning Britain and a frequent guest on the BBC Radio 4 programme Just A Minute. Brandreth has appeared in the Dictionary Corner on Countdown more than 300 times, making more appearances than any other guest on the show.
