Tickets for this are disappearing fast, so if you want to see this once in a lifetime show then don't put off booking! A night of stories, chat and performance - this is one of Britain's national treasures giving back.
This is not really a theatre show, at least not in the traditional sense. It is more a celebration and an act of supreme generosity. It’s a staged meet and greet sprinkled with anecdote, some poetry, a bit of autobiography, lots of audience interaction, a dab of Shakespeare and some stardust. It is full of love: love by McKellen for the industry that has supported him over 60 years and love by his fans for Gandalf. Sorry, McKellen.

About Ian McKellen On Stage

“Taking this new show to 80+ theatres around the country, has been a joyful birthday present to myself. I’ve played mainly in theatres I knew well as a young theatregoer and actor. On my birthday, I was in Bolton Town Hall where my dad used to work. It began last February with 15 theatres in Greater London and will end in Orkney. Soon I will be back in London, for a limited season in the West End, raising much-needed funds for theatre charities. As for the show? Ask someone who’s seen it. Come and find out.” - Ian McKellen The show starts with Gandalf and will likely end with an invitation to act with him on stage. In between, there will be chat, reminiscence and gossip. There will also be performances from his vast repertoire of Shakespeare and Tolkien and perhaps a song or two along with a chance to ask questions and maybe even take to the stage with Henry V.
