Arrested in 1980 for the ‘theft’ of his deceased father’s tools, Mark DeFriest is still in jail today. Mark is man that has been left behind by the American judicial system and who has lived a life of pain, addiction and suffers from suspected mental health issues such as Psychosis and Autism Spectrum Disorder. The multiple attempted, and often successful prison escapes led him to be nicknamed the ‘Prison Houdini’. The dark, unsettling world of Mark DeFriest will leave you shocked and heartbroken- just as we were when we first came across his story. This play features original music, physical theatre and the use of multiple theatrical devices. Contains strong language & Adult Themes, including themes of mental health & sexual violence.
