Michael Ball (Les Mis, Sweeney Todd, Hairspray), who starred in the original production in London and on Broadway, reunites with director Jonathan Kent in this reimagined production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love. Coming to the West End's Lyric Theatre from May 2023! The musical features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart and Don Black, and based on David Garnett's novel, Aspects of Love tells the story of love, passion, life and loss across three generations of a family and their artistic companions, against a backdrop of 1940s Italy and France. Alex falls in love with Rose Vibert, a seductive actress. The couple embarks on a passionate affair, when the unexpected arrival of Uncle George changes their lives - and of those around them - forever. Desire, passion, friendship and family ties bind three generations together as they come to realise how love changes everything. Michael Ball mentioned that this story holds a unique place in his heart, and shared his excitement to be collaborating again with brilliant director Jonathan Kent, mentioning that their work together on Sweeney Todd was extremely inspiring. Aspects of Love premiered at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London in 1989, and transferred to Broadway in 1990, opening at the Broadhurst Theatre. It has since toured the UK and been produced in South Africa, at the Menier Chocolate Factory, in Holland, and more recently, at The Playhouse, Whitley Bay. ‘Love Changes Everything’ was a huge hit for Michael Ball. Aspects Of Love follows the romantic entanglements of an engaging group of characters: actress Rose Vibert, her fan Alex Dillingham, his young cousin Jenny, his uncle George, and George’s lover Giulietta Trapani, a sculptor. Spanning a period of 17 years, the story guides us through the romantic, platonic and familial connections between various characters, exploring the ways in which they shift and evolve, and delving deep into every aspect of what it means to love.

Aspects Of Love features music and book by celebrated British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Webber has composed 21 musicals, several of which have enjoyed runs of over a decade on the West End and Broadway. Some of his most beloved works include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Cats, The Phantom Of The Opera and School Of Rock. Among his many awards he has received a Grammy Legend Award and a knighthood and is one of 17 people to achieve the coveted EGOT (winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony).
The production also features lyrics by Don Black and Charles Hart. It is based on a 1955 novella of the same name by English writer David Garnett.

The cast of Aspects Of Love is led by Michael Ball as George. Ball is a veteran of the West End stage, having starred in shows such as Les Misérables, The Phantom Of The Opera, Hairspray and Chess. He also originated the role of Alex in the original West End run of Aspects Of Love.
Jamie Bogyo - who made his professional theatre debut in the lead role of Christian in the smash hit West End production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical - will play Alex, the role that Michael Ball himself originated in 1989. Further casting is yet to be announced.
Aspect Of Love features a fantastic score from Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricists Don Black and Charles Hart, including the hugely popular song “Love Changes Everything”. It also features tracks such as “The First Man You Remember”, “There Is More To Love” and “Seeing Is Believing”.
Aspects Of Love will begin preview performances on 12 May 2023 before officially opening at the Lyric Theatre on 25 May. It will run for a strictly limited season until 11 November.
