About The Year of the Monkey
We are delighted to present a unique performance of Claire Dowie's iconic series of touching and comedic monologues, The Year of the Monkey. Enjoy three of these monologues; Year of the Monkey, where a mother seeks to snap the monotony of her middle-class life; The Allotment, in which a community of pensioners accidentally create a radical commune; and Bonfire Night, in which a daughter looks for revenge. This outdoor promenade theatre performance takes place in three settings within the Garden, each chosen to illuminate different elements of the play. The audience will be guided through the Garden to each performance. Seating for those with mobility issues can be provided, but the audience will otherwise stand throughout the performances. Performances will last around an hour but timings may vary.
