Set during the last days of the Sacred Band of Thebes - the army written about by Plutarch that derived its power from the strength of the bond between each pair of its 300 lovers. It is a tale of love, violence, faith, patriotism and identity. Charting wars that were fought and won or lost according to the bonds that tied the army of lovers together. A fabulous cast of singers will be lead by the counter-tenor Derek Lee Ragin who was the voice of Farinelli in the eponymous film. Music composed by Mark Springer (founder member of Rip Rig + Panic with Neneh Cherry); Libretto by David Flusfeder (award-winning author of John the Pupil and The Gift); Movement by legendary ballerina and choreograper Lynn Seymour. In the first half there will be a performance of Mark Springer’s new music for piano - four hands, two pianists, one piano. Performed on a full size Fazioli concert grand. Age Recommendation: 12+
