Well what could be better than a chance to return to the theatre at one of London’s most iconic venues, know that it is safe because you are outdoors and socially distanced, and be able to enjoy one of Regent’s Park’s most celebrated shows. Rightly so. This is a concert version of the 2012 revival of the classic rock opera that transferred to the Barbican and now returns to the park with some of the brilliant original cast including Tyrone Huntley as a fanatical young Judas, Anouska Lucas as a soulful Mary Magdalen and Declan Bennett who was a quietly impressive Jesus. As there are nine performances a week they will be sharing the roles with Ricardo Afonso, Pepe Nufrio and Maimuna Memon. Tickets are apparently flying fast.
We are excited to announce that Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is the first London theatre to welcome back audiences with 70 live performances in August and September. In addition to a special concert staging of our production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, which plays for 6 weeks from Friday 14 August 2020, we will also be welcoming comedy back the theatre with MOREoutdoor Mondays featuing Rob Beckett, Gabby Best, Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr, Kerry Godliman, Russell Kane, Olga Koch, Judi Love, Suzi Ruffell, Sindhu Vee and Mischief Theatre.
