Following the resounding success of her intimate poetry evenings at the National Theatre and Bridge Theatre, Allie Esiri’s latest show celebrates her new anthology: Shakespeare for Every Day of the Year, published by Macmillan this autumn. From Malvolio in yellow stockings for Twelfth Night, to Richard III clamouring for a horse on the date of the Battle of Bosworth, or a love sonnet to mark Shakespeare’s marriage to Ann Hathaway and Juliet’s July birthday, to Henry V and his band of brothers at the Battle of Agincourt, the evening will feature powerful and timely readings from Christopher Eccleston and two further actors, to be announced shortly. After the show, Allie will be signing copies of the book. Actors who have previously read at Allie Esiri’s poetry events include Helena Bonham Carter, Damian Lewis, Simon Russell Beale, Joanna Lumley, Stephen Mangan, Helen McCrory, Giles Terera, Kate Fleetwood, Sheila Atim, Indira Varma and Samuel West. All artists appear subject to availability.
