About Pericles

Two adaptations for audiences that include those marginalised by autism and/or displaced by war. This unique double performance pushes the boundaries of what is possible for live Shakespeare performance in the 21st century, both in terms of audience reach and artistic vision. Eight performers take all the roles and play music live on stage. Shakespeare’s lesser-known story of loss, storms and miraculous reunions, makes this beautiful romantic play a timely experience for all audiences in our modern world. The show is created on the back of our successful adaptations of Hamlet and Twelfth Night which toured the European festival circuit between 2015-2019. Pericles for Autistic Individuals We are offering a limited number of Observer’s Seats for our morning performances of Pericles for autistic individuals. Our company of actors will also be performing our adaptation of Shakespeare's Pericles specifically for audiences who are marginalized by autism and isolated by war. Our Pericles for autistic individuals uses Flute’s award winning Hunter Heartbeat games, in which we create a space where everyone is welcome to explore how it feels to be alive through love, humour and kindness. We premiered our double performance in May 2022, at the Craiova Shakespeare Festival in Romania, performing our full scale production in English and our Pericles for autistic individuals and refugee families in Romanian and Russian. This unique double performance event allows you to see Pericles twice, offering a deeper understanding of the essence of Shakespeare’s plays, and a rare opportunity to watch Flute at work with our vulnerable, marginalised audience.
