Looking for a dream of a show that will suit every member of the family? The return of this 2022 Olivier nominated comedy, inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, should fit the bill. Think of The Play That Goes Wrong but with Shakespeare as Nick Bottom and his fellow thespians attempt to put on a show and fail—hilariously. About Midsummer Mechanicals
One midsummer’s night, a band of amateur actors led by Nick Bottom staged their first ever play. It was so bold, so brilliant and so chaotic that it went down in theatre history. Now these actors – known as the Mechanicals – are back to perform their latest masterpiece, and with half an hour to go until curtain-up, everything is in hand. The actors are (almost) assembled, the play is (nearly) rehearsed, and the audience (that’s you!) are ready. What could possibly go wrong? Everything, it turns out.
