It’s 1985 and wannabe rock star Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favourite wedding singer. He’s the life and soul of every party. That is, until his own fiancée unceremoniously leaves him at the alter. Truly heartbroken, Robbie’s misery is contagious, and every wedding he plays is now as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who steals his heart and could truly be the person to turn around Robbie’s misfortunes. There’s just one problem: Julia is about to marry one of Wall Street’s most successful and ruthless businessmen. Unless Robbie can pull off the performance of the decade, the girl of his dreams may be gone forever…. Based on the 1998 movie of the same name, The Wedding Singer has a sparkling new musical score, which does for the 80s what Hairspray did for the 60s.
