However, his off-pitch antics, which have been over-looked by the press in the past, are about to be exposed. After being dropped for a match against Chelsea, George arrives at up-and-coming actress Sinéad Cusack’s flat, seeking solace. The press discovers this and besiege the flat, which turns into a live T.V. event, entrapping George and Sinéad for two days. For George, who was football’s first ever major icon, we see an insight into his ‘fish-bowl’ lifestyle, only one year before he quit professional football, as it all became too much. Through Sinéad, we realise the tragedy of George’s life; while she is an actress on her way up, he is a footballer on his way out, far too long before his time.
