Lucy McCormick is a one-off, completely undefinable and always gleefully trashing any of the boundaries that keep theatre, cabaret and experimental performance in their neat little boxes. Her two previous shows, Triple Threat and Post Popular, have been unexpected, deliciously blasphemous and rudely funny. Simultaneously vulgar and touching. Here, she seeks to find some cohesion in a divided world, hope where there is only despair, community where there is only a feeling of being alone. There will be pole dancing. And savage political comment.
Join Lucy as she unveils her new ensemble, cabaret tent spectacular… Unfortunately, she has no friends, no money, and no tent. Still, there’ll be pole dancing, angry puppets Judy & Judy, strip routines, and some quick reworking of social policy. In a despairing world, Lucy attempts to create community, connection, and conversation the only way she knows how. Lucy McCormick makes nightclub installations,cross-genre cabaret interventions and extravaganza theatre shows, marrying interests in absurdity, feminism & the grotesque. Her debut show ‘Triple Threat’ established her as one of the UK’s most influential voices in experimental performance. Touring to 31 venues around the world including the prestigious Under The Radar Festival (New York) and a week-long run at Sydney Festival (2020); it was awarded Best Performer award at Dublin Fringe, nominated for a Total Theatre and Off West End Awards and in The Guardian’s top 10 comedy shows.
