Angels are rare; when they appear, don’t look away. In Du Yun and Royce Vavrek’s dark parable, two angels fall to Earth and are taken in by a couple who slowly exploit them, turning care into cruelty and love into something far more disturbing. Du Yun, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, reframes modern horror through opera. An English National Opera production with Factory International and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, it premieres at Aviva Studios, Manchester in May, before transferring to the London Coliseum in October. Manchester performances feature Kantos Chamber Choir, while the London run is performed with the ENO Orchestra orchestra.
