About All My Sons

America, 1947. Despite hard choices and even harder knocks, Joe and Kate Keller are a success story. They have built a home, raised two sons and established a thriving business. But nothing lasts forever and their contented lives, already shadowed by the loss of their eldest boy to war, are about to shatter. With the return of a figure from the past, long buried truths are forced to the surface and the price of their American dream is laid bare.

The Story Unfolds: Origins and Evolution

Arthur Miller’s All My Sons returns to the West End this autumn in a major new revival, led by award-winning actor Bryan Cranston. First performed in 1947, All My Sons was the play that launched Miller to prominence, setting the stage for his later masterpieces like Death of a Salesman and The Crucible.

Set in post-war America, the play follows Joe Keller, a self-made businessman whose success during wartime comes under scrutiny when his partner is charged with shipping defective airplane parts—leading to the deaths of 21 pilots. With his eldest son missing in action and the cracks in his moral facade widening, Joe must finally face the devastating cost of his decisions.

This gripping and emotionally charged drama remains one of Miller’s most powerful indictments of the American Dream, and its themes of accountability, denial, and familial loyalty feel as urgent today as ever.

Behind the Scenes: Crafting the Spectacle

Bryan Cranston, best known for his iconic role in Breaking Bad, returns to the London stage as Joe Keller in All My Sons. He is joined by the brilliant Marianne Jean-Baptiste (The Amen Corner, Hard Truths) as Kate Keller and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Death of England: Delroy) as Chris Keller.

The production reunites Cranston with visionary director Ivo Van Hove, following their acclaimed collaboration on Network in 2017. Van Hove brings deep experience with Arthur Miller’s work, having previously directed acclaimed West End productions of A View from the Bridge and The Crucible.

Scenic and lighting design is by Jan Versweyveld, with costumes by An D’Huys, sound by Tom Gibbons, and casting by Julia Horan. Ola Animashawun serves as dramaturg. With such a powerhouse creative team, this revival of All My Sons promises to be one of the theatrical highlights of the year.
