A superb production which emphasised the farcical aspect of the opera . Beautifully sung with excellent choreography and use of dramatic techniques for comic effect.

Lascivious Count Almaviva, rejects his wife and abuses his position in a bid to bed Susanna on the day of her marriage to his manservant, Figaro.
The strength of Mozart’s comic opera lies in the shenanigans of the Count’s household, who — in cahoots with his wife — teach him a harsh lesson.
Women get the better of the situation in the story, and on Press Night, easily bested the menfolk in terms of performances. Particularly notable was Louise Alder eclipsing all-comers as a modern, sassy and vivacious Susanna, and Hanna Hip - the embodiment of a rascally adolescent, swaggering Cherubino.Read more →
