Extraordinary production. Simple staging, but the use of earphones concentrated the mind on the text in a way so often missing n conventional stagings. Although heavily cut, the addition of the usually unfunny Porter scene was very funny and made for an interlude between the rapid decline of the Macbeths into darkness. The suggestion of the dead son was very effective, making the attempt on Fleance’s life doubly brutal. Tennant and Jumbo as the Macbeths were memorable.Read more →
