EVEN BETTER with a ‘proper’ ending this time. Enjoyed it first time but after Southgate’s resignation; the updated ending felt like a heartfelt closure. And the ‘new’ Garath is as good if not better than in the previous production. If you seen it before; don’t hesitate to see it again. 1st viewing Jan 2024: So pleased to have had the opportunity to catch this fantastic play. Despite being Danish the emotions and pride made me ‘almost’ feel English.Read more →

A brilliant example of how a well-told story can be interesting and inspiring no matter the subject. The play is extraordinary beautiful, fascinating and filled with so much joy you can’t stay behind. It’s like watching an award-winning sports movie and a World Cup at the same time. I am not a football fan, but oh my **** this play is now one of my favourites.Read more →

Brilliantly cast, Joseph Fiennes WAS Gareth Southgate! A really heartwarming play set in the strong masculine culture of football, wonderful humour and vintage footage of the Beautiful Game made it an absolute joy to watch. A great opportunity to bring young people to the theatre who have a passion for football, combining actual theatre and the theatre of the beautiful game! My sons and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire show with its amazing stage set and the Prince Edward theatre is a real gem with its gorgeous outside balcony bar, even in November!Read more →

The laughs the tears the highs and the lows, what a roller coaster of this wonderful game and it delivered on everything - thoroughly enjoyed it, brought back some great memories and I think added more to the game letting people look at it from a Manager and a players position as opposed to a fan of the games position - Loved it!!Read more →

Brilliant lighthearted fun examining the trials and tribulations of English football over the past decades, culminating in one man’s vision of something different. Helps if you know the characters but I’m sure still a powerful story if you don’tRead more →

Joseph Feinnes proves himself something of a shapeshifter as he assumes the guise, voice and mannerisms of Gareth Southgate, from his appointment as England’s underestimated caretaker manager, through his time as a waistcoat-clad guru and onwards to Qatar. As his team gradually assembles around him, they each learn to grow as individuals and develop a truly cohesive spirit, whilst they are coached and guided by mild-mannered academic Dr Pippa Grange (Gina McKee) on how to lay to rest the weight of national expectation and the trauma it can induce. An absolute must for football fans.Read more →

One of the best, most entertaining plays I’ve seen in a long time. Superb cast, bags of energy and a fascinating look at the story of the England football team, although I’d say you don’t have to be a huge football fan to love this as much as I did. Deserves to be a massive hit. It’s excellentRead more →
