Powerful play. It managed to take on so many delicate and difficult discussions in a relatively fun way. It’s still very intense, of course — as it should be, given the topic. Generation after generation, humans try to be more human, less animal — yet when it comes to mating and gender roles, our animal instincts often take the upper hand. It’s an eternal battle. First of all, this play is the definition of talent — a once-in-a-lifetime role for Rosamund Pike, and easily her best performance yet. It truly felt like the entire piece was written just for her. Somehow, it managed to be even more powerful and captivating than Prima Facie. The staging, the supporting actors, the music — everything was flawless.
