In many ways, Operation Mincemeat is just like your typical West End musical - high energy, show-stopping numbers, clear (even if somewhat predictable) structure. It gets that part right. But it truly shines in those most unexpected moments that push the boundaries of the musical form. Thrilling, surprising, and hilarious with a comedic self-awareness and committed performances that will give the audience a bang for their buck, this is a tale about silly intelligence officers told brilliantly through intelligent silliness. What appears on paper to be unpromising material kept a smile on the receptive packed house’s collective face.
