There were many things to like about this story of a notorious Sheffield 1960’s concrete high rise. The characters are winning and the multiple time zones seem a little contrived at the start but the overlap of the occupiers of the flat comes together nicely. The big drawback for me were the endless soulful ballads which did not progress the action in any way. Particularly later in what is a long evening one wanted to say. “Not another song - please, get on with the story”.Read more →

Beautiful deep and emotional theatre about life, hope, home and place. There is an imbalance between the incredible depth and pace of the dialogue and the songs that hold the audience in place for a time. I spent the interval wondering what to make of it but it had thoroughly got under my skin by the end. Superb cast. Would recommend and see again.Read more →

Set on the once notorious Park Hill Housing Estate in Sheffield, this wonderful musical production is the very essence of community spirit, requiring a dynamic creative group effort during its development stages to reach fruition. The result is a show which literally shines bright at every performance.Read more →

3.50 stars. Saw this a couple of times at the National Theatre and loved it. West End transfer has seen a few cast changes, different theatre space and slightly different audience. I still enjoyed it but felt it had lost a little bit of the energy and vibrancy of it’s National runRead more →

Absolutely looved it! I really enjoyed the music and the unique way they’ve incorporated it in the story - despite reading the opposite from a few other reviews. Unique, fresh, clever, beautiful staging and a talented cast. Definitely worth a watch!Read more →

One of the best new musicials I've seen in years, it creatively tells the story of the social history of Sheffied via a great musical score and incredible acting. I'm so glad I got to see it before it closes.Read more →

Great to see original British musical theatre at the NT. Clever use of the overlapping narrative form, but novelty wore off as the lo(oooo)ng production went on. Show reached its peak in Act 1Read more →
