4.5 stars. This was amazing, mainly for Imelda Staunton who's always crazygood (she's good at being crazy), but Conleth Hill was a fun revelation! Having enjoyed him as Varys in Game of Thrones, it was nice to see him do something else, and his performance was surprisingly compelling. Luke Treadaway (who I usually like) was weirdly stiff which was a shame, & Imogen Poots did just fine. Great example of not necessarily looking forward to a production, only to experience a 180 whiparound 👍🏽Read more →

Imelda Staunton (who I love) was a huge disappointment.. her unsympathetic performance showed none of Martha's vulnerabilities... Martha came over as a spoilt bullying monster impossible to care about.. Conleth Hill's George was believable but lacked nuance. From Row K, most of the lines were lost. Why is distinctive speech delivered with sufficient projection such s problem for theatre practitioners these days?Read more →

A phenomenal production of a flawless play. Imelda Staunton is perfect as Martha giving the illusion a bitter middle-aged woman but revealing a heart broken lady not lucky enough to have children. Conleth Hill as George is perfect casting as he captures the mannerisms of him perfectly, portraying a hurt man still recovering from shock himself.Read more →

Mesmerising for the full 3 hours! 3 hours has never flown by so fast! This is possibly the best play I have ever seen! It really had the dream cast and imelda staunton was...well...I can’t even begin to describe her performance! If you’ve seen her in other shows, you’ll know exactly what she gives. Stunning!Read more →

Superb performances from ALL 4 actors. Truly impressed by dedication to their crafts. Be forewarned -- this show is intense, & it does not leave you feeling uplifted... not intended to. But it will encourage you to take some personal inventory.Read more →

The mark of a good staging of Virginia Woolf is how uncomfortable everyone ends up feeling. This was a tense, sad production which garnered both sympathy and disgust for the central characters.Read more →

She's an utter tour de force. Imelda Staunton has a presence and allure that brings a different dimension to the production in a way I hadn't seen before.Read more →
