Absolutely loved this, even more than Jerusalem (also written by Jez Butterworth) a number of years ago. **** Considine kept the whole thing going, while Laura Donnelly was great as his would-be wife in another life. Quirks including a real baby, rabbits and a goose added to the charm, and the slow burn is wonderful to behold. Was over 3 hours but so compelling that it flew by and I was surprised when it was over. Chillingly dark final scene; i'll be thinking about this one for weeks 🐦Read more →

Wow! Mindblowning! This is contemporary text based three acts theatre at its best. Great writing and superb performances.
The notions of home, family, what’s patriotic, what’s the cost of freedom we’re beautifully interwoven.
It lasted more than 3 hours but I didn’t get bored, not even for a second. A definitely must see! By far my favourite this yearRead more →

Best play I have ever seen. Jez Butterworth is an absolute genius. The play is entirely naturalistic and I was stunned by the realism of the set and the acting. I kept forgetting I was watching a play and honestly felt as though I was watching real life unfolding. Utterly brilliant. I was in tears by the end and didn’t stop crying as I left the theatre.Read more →

The Ferryman by #JezButterworth @GielgudTheatre - Everyone had told me it was gr8, it has won Best Play awards galore and yet it's taken me all this time to see it, well #BestPlay It is all I'd heard and more. I'm stunned. All the hype is TOTALLY deserved.Read more →

Has a large cast (20 or so) and everyone is very good, including the younger actors. It has a very intimate feel and really draws you in. Although it's 3 hours my attention didn't wander at all. If you can get a ticket then go and see it !Read more →

Very good, amazing acting and fantastic ending. Only slight issue is the time and it's a tad too wordy, the same things could be achieved with less words but still a fantastic play and worth the waitRead more →

Not quite as good as the hype for me. Really good with strong cast doing their best to portray the troubles in Ireland. Very long. Thought the ending was a bit hackneyed and rushedRead more →

Stunning script and wonderful performances. A twisting story with shocks and twists. Political on the surface but it goes deeper into human motivations behind political acts.Read more →

It was well played by the diverse aged cast but lacked the harder edge of the play writes previous piece. Still sinister enough stuff with elements of off the wall hilarity.Read more →

An amazing piece of original writing helped, with small exceptions of the younger men, by an amazing cast. I can only long to have seen the original at the Royal Court.Read more →
