If you’re a lover of theatre, just go watch and marvel at the mastery that is on display here. Indeed, once is probably not enough, there’s just so much to take in! Sam Mendes’ production has the look and feel of a post modern history lesson about the Lehman’s performed with 3 incredible actors, instead of teachers, and the results are beyond anything that I’ve ever witnessed in a theatre. Everything from production design, staging, acting, lighting, music, movement, sound, script is on a different level from anything I’ve seen this month, and I’ve seen 10 shows! Oh Simon Russell Beale! Legend!Read more →

A fascinating plot, catchy storytelling with some very witty moments and excellent acting make this show pure bliss. 3 actors constantly on stage tell the story of Lehman brothers from 1843 when the first brother arrived in the US till the default of 2008. They jump in and out of various characters switching gender and age seamlessly. A huge screen as big as the scene sets the mood and a piano accompanies the audience on this amazing journey. The 3rd act is a bit worse than the previous 2 as it covers double the time and doesn't develop as well the storyline. Compelling from start to finish.Read more →

A genuine theatrical masterwork — a revealing history lesson, which at its heart tells of a family driven by the need to succeed and overcome obstacles. The story begins in 1844 with the arrival in New York of a young immigrant Jew from Bavaria. Within three years, Henry (John Heffernan) is joined at his ‘fabric and suits’ store in Alabama by his two brothers Mayer (Aaron Krohn) and Emanuel (Howard W. Overshown). Over decades they develop their middlemen operation into a formidable brokerage, which with each generation diversifies and reinforces its domination over corporate America.Read more →

A brilliant contemporary play that tells a story of a very interesting family that changed American economic system. It’s unusual to see only three actors playing dozens of characters but they do it so well you forget that they are the same person. The play is fairly long but it never gets boring, because it’s like watching a super good Oscar worthy film. Some of the scenes took my breath out and I’m honestly still processing everything that I’ve seen. Just sending a huge thank you to everyone who is in charge of producing this play.Read more →

Wonderfully performed, fabulous staging and excellent writing that keeps the narrative pace right up. That said, this does have the feel of a drama documentary in which the characters are first and indeed last historical figures - not means of exploring an issue through dialogue and interaction. The one truly meta passage involving a rather splendid version of the twist is perhaps an indication of a more impressionistic approach that might have paid greater dividends.Read more →

The play paints a vivid picture of the origins of our financial system from its roots in (Alabama😉) the past, through to the present. The storytelling is magnificent with a seamless blend of humour, drama and tragedy. The actors give fantastic performances switching seamlessly between characters and accents as they move from one era to the next. Overall, immensely engaging, enjoyable and thought provoking. #mustseeRead more →

The Lehman Trilogy is back in West End. It was a Masterclass in acting by this new cast of 3 as they take you through a journey in time with multiple memorable characters who come and go as the story evolves - focuses on events before 1990s. Futuristic set and talented actors welcomes the audience to this immersive experiences of passion, humour, hopes of the Lehman family. My only complaint - very long!Read more →

Fantastic scenery. Very long. Too long. Liked the dialog. Worked very well to tell the story. Was expecting a story about greed leading to the collapse but 1928 to 2008 (3rd act) was done in such a rush that the story to me fell apart. Had Enron in the back of my head and it never reached the same level of criticism and explaining predatory capitalism.Read more →

Elaborate story centred on the personalities and characters that made a family business, with amazing character acting from Russell Beale and Adam Godley. The accelerating pace of storytelling delivers the sense of a business losing its roots and spinning out of control, but leaves gaps in the factual understanding of the company’s history.Read more →

A classic. Deep suspenseful drama interwoven with moments of absurdity & slapstick. Trio, led by Nigel Lindsay, superb in every role played. Apex is definitely Bobby doing the ‘twist’. The hype is justified on this oneRead more →
