I’m gonna miss this show SO much! Everything about Hadestown is perfect. The score, the songs, the costumes, the set, the cast, EVERYTHING. I can only thank Anaïs for dreaming this up so brilliantly.Read more →

A personal favourite, I saw it three times. That’s how much I loved it. I’ve been waiting for a year for this musical, since I fell in love with the live off-Broadway album. And I was not disappointed, at all. The music in this show is so powerful and the cast is great. A mesmerising and moving show.Read more →

Very faithful to the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, this ‘rock-opera’ has many great operatic precursors. This production is closer to ‘Girl from the North Country’ which stormed the Old Vic and West End last year. Everything was well done, the performances excellent and in a couple of cases outstanding, and the whole enjoyable. The score, however, apart from a few catchy anthems, did not quite hit the spot and as a result what could have been a movingly tragic ending was a little predictable and let the audience off the hook. Nevertheless entertaining.Read more →

Truly wonderful show where every element is flying on all cylinders - musicality, set design, performances, choreography, book and lyrics. Manages to be nostalgic, timely, political and romantic all at once. A proper crowd pleaser with something for everyone and something to say. Broadway, you’re gonna love it!Read more →

When you go watching something at Olivier theatre you know it's going to be amazing. This show confirms the rule. This is a musical revisitation of Orpheus and Eurydice's tragedy on jazzy- blues - rock music. It's a truly grandious show that is impossible not to love.Read more →

This wasn't particularly my cup of tea but it was a birthday present for my papa who absolutely loved it - which was great and made it worth it. For me, it ran a bit long and was fairly dischordant (I usually prefer my musicals with jazz swing and tap!) and difficult for me to enjoy properly BUT the set was amazing and the use of light (especially the floating lamps) was really good. I enjoyed Hades' bassy voice and the band were excellent. Not especially my thing but an excellent production and I can see why people enjoy it, and why it’s heading to Broadway 🔥🔥🔥Read more →

‘It’s a sad song but we’re gonna sing it again’. Which is welcome when the songs are this fine, the performances this good and the contemporary resonance this strong.Read more →
